I was wondering if you think this is overkill.
3.5 x 3.5 oak leg attached to a 1x 2.5 inch oak apron with 1.5 to 1-3/4 inch oak top 36x80.Apron will be set in one inch from leg.Legs are in exact corner sticking through tabletop.
I was thinking pocket screws only at first but started doubting there ability for that much weight.SO I was thinking of dadoeing a groove in the legs (mortise) 1/2" Then sliding apron in closed dadoe so it rest upon it, then attach corner brackets I guess I can get from Lee Valley or ebay etc. Plus I can still use the pocket screws. Is this overkill?
The way of attaching top to apron I was thinking pocket screws and glue only.
I have heard of z clips but dont know much about them and couldnt find any via search engine.
Thanks again ...
IM sure I can make it happen my way but wanted to hear others advice.
