I have tried Behlen's pore filler and it does a great job of filling the pores. The problem is that the Neutral is too light and the Mahogony is too pink for use on red oak. Does anyone ever tint or dye the pore filler to get it closer to the predominate color of the wood? Could I use TransTint dye to experiment and see if I can get to the desired color or should I use a different medium as the tinting agent? Thanks for all the past help you have provide to a novice. I just tinted the Target HSF5100 grain filler with Trans Tint while doing some color samples, and it worked just fine. If it will mix with your product then I don't see any problem. It doesn't take much dye to darken it quite alot.
Try several samples at different strength mix, and keep notes as you go.
Good luck,
Marc
