Wood available - need advice

I was just forwared an email from someone that knows someone, etc, that has some rough cut wood available in Houston. The wood is supposedly from an old cypress tree, is 4 - 6 inches thick, 3 - 4 feet wide, and was described as furniture quality. I have no experience with cypress. I'll be in Houston for the woodworking show and would be available to go see the condition of the wood. Is this worth investigating?

Great material for exterior use. And in those thicknesses, would make some fine garden furniture.
I have some boards from the Mount Olive Pickle Company in NC just waiting for the time to make my own benches.
