This is the first Norfolk Island Pine I've turned. The log was purchased 3 years ago at the AAW Symposium in KC by our club Secretary. He was cleaning out his blanks and asked me if I wanted it. Obviously I said yes. Most NIP I've seen in either bowls or vases so I decided to try a HF. The log was bone dry. Measures 7" dia. x 7-1/2" tall. The walls are 1/16" or less. It weighs 6-1/2 OZ. The last picture was taken with the lights out holding a flashlight thru the opening.As always your comments and critiques are welcome. Thanks for looking.

WOW! That flashlight really lights up that wood. Didn't know that NIP would look red like that.

Man that's something! The photo in the dark really does look alien. You chose a good shape for that wood. Is it soaked in oil or just surface finished? Whatever it is, it sure is neat.

Great form Keith! Amazing that the knots are placed perfectly for 'eyes'! Really nice effect with the flashlight! Nice work!
