At least, that's what I named it. Banksia "vase" with a ping pong ball "trapped" inside. 8 1/2" tall x 3" at the widest. Bandsawed the banksia at the center black stipe. 2" Fortner bit to the bottom of the top piece, deep enough that the ball can rattle around some. Glued it back together - and had forgotten to put the ball in! Took it apart, inserted the ball, and glued it back together. Spindle turned, with the chuck on the top end, and live center on the bottom. 3/8" gouge and skew chisel. Friction finish.

Anyone else turning these things?

cOOl idea Rick, will get em wonderin. next time drill small hole in ping pong ball and dump in some rice , use the rice with ca and close it back up ...:eek: , give 'em to the grands kids ... helps get even for something...:D

Pretty cool. For sure will have the kids wondering plus a few adults who won't say a word.

Yup, you never know what a ping pong ball buried with Banksia seeds inside will yeild...:rolleyes: ;)
