Hello,

I am thinking of buying one of these for my new delta drill press but wasn't sure if it was worth it or not. I recently read Franks review of the Rockler drill press table but he said that it cost him $270 by the time he had it in the house. That is just too much for me. The craftsman might be more like it @ $129cdn. Here is the link.

I would appreciate any input from past/current owners as well as anyone who can shed some light on dfferent options for drill press tables. Thanks for any help.

Kevin

I just picked one up from Grizzly for about $30. It's a little smaller than the Craftsman version, and probably not quite as nice, but it's a fraction of the cost and for my drill press, it will do me fine.

Hope this helps.

The tilt part is a nice touch but should tilt toward the fence not away from it. I would be real fun to try to work with it the way it is. I'd make my own for about 1/2 the cost. Also make a drawer section to mount to your steel drill-press table first & then mount the table you make to it. This way you'll have drill bit storage right at the drill-press.

Remember it doesn't have to be pretty. I personally don't like slick tops on equipment unless the equipment is like a table-saw, jointer or planer where the material is supposed to slide acrosss the tool to achive the finished product.

I made one similar to the Grizzly a couple years ago and it has served me well. It doesn't have the tilt feature so if that is important to you you'll have to consider this. For the price if I had known about the Griz I wouldn't have bothered making my own.

The tilt feature on the C-man doesn't have any mechanism to keep the table perpendicular to the bit. This means it is up to you to raise each side of the table the correct amount to keep things from getting skewed. For the price I would keep looking if the tilt feature is important. The again, you could make quite a table for $130 and design it to fit your needs.

Just my 2 cents.

I bought it when I bought my drill press about two years ago. It looked great at the store. Got it home started to assemble it. It is melamine. The front piano hinge is screwed in with short screws. Fell apart before I could even get it together. I drilled the hole all the way through and put screws with nuts on them. It is holding up. I never used the tilt feature. Too difficult to set up accurately. The dust channel works ok. But most of the debris will be generated on the top. At any rate would not do it again. Just make one. I saw this one at a show and it looks pretty handy. I am not affiliated.
