Ok Bill, I don't feel bad about the dollars I spent on "Beauty" any more. I will say this for the benefit of all the Mustard gang. That sur'nuf is a purdy shade of Catsup!!   :D :D On the serious side, Wow guy, Congrats, that is some wood hauler!!;)

Uh.....John......I've packed a few mules since I moved here to Idaho. IMHO they will pull or pack pound for pound more than a horse.....But I thought maybe I'd better point out John....those ARE NOT horsies.....the ears are too long!  :D

Shoot, John. Don't you have a photo of one of the times that your neighbours used their horse team to pull your wife out of the ditch?

...art

ps: Nothing fancy 'bout my Toyota Sienna, but it does the job. Mostly it hauls the kids, more often'n lumber, so it suits.

Andy, I actually SAW one of those things a couple months ago when I got off the DC Beltway onto Rockville Pike. A big red one passed me on the right as I was waiting for the light to make a U-turn south towards Bethesda. BIG pickup truck! Did I happen to mention... BIG????

For the past 50 yrs I,ve hauled most of my wood in my car or a van (when I had one). When I lived in Chicago I hauled wood from Middlefield ,Oh. They would cut it in 4 or 5' lenths and I could get about 250 bd ft at a time.

If you keep a few bungee cords and a little rope behind the seat, you'd be surprised how much wood you can haul on one of these. DAMHIKT. Some of my best pieces of wood have been salvaged from construction sites.

Of course you have to drive wood around in style... here is my loader!!! (have to polish the pieces up real purdy to stick 'em on the leather seats though!!!) ;)

Just sold my little pickup to get something with a back seat for granddaughter hauling, but it was only good for smaller stuff anyway, beause of the height. Best is my old snowmobile trailer with tilt or a good set of ramps. Comealong as required, and you can roll almost anything on up and tow it out of the woods. That way the log's still entire, and no coating required.

New vehicle was purchased with a receiver, you can bet. For my own woods the tractor and chains skid well.

Tell the truth, George... your wood-hauler is powered by......................DNA..........:D ;)

Hey guys....that picture of the mule team is just a showroom foor picture. You can bet, I'd replace the mules with draft horses. I kinda like them cuz they do their share of the work.

....Ok ok....they do ALL of the work!;) :D

I've got the same one Mark uses for big pieces, but in black. I'm not sure I'd fit in the one he uses for small pieces. Thats why I don't have one. Yeah, uhuh.

I used to have a '94 Tercel for hauling wood. That had to go, so now it's a '97 Corolla. The seats in the back fold down for stuffing all the flat boards in. Shocked the local wood distributor when I got all my 8' boards in there.

http://home.metrocast.net/~cpjvkj/420ulogboom.jpgPeter, you brought back some fond memories. The first vehicle I ever drove was a JD tractor on the cotton gin I lived next to. My job was to drive drive the cotton bails from the gin to the storage yard. I was only 7 but I was in heaven.:D

My last truck was a 97' chevy 3500 4 door dually. It would pull like a team of mules, as fast as a team of mules, right to the next gas station:cool: . When I pulled my 5th wheel I got 4 mpg. Put 250,000 miles on her though. I keep em way too long thats why I went diesel.:D

Now this will pull down the timber.    BTW thats a full size dodge ram with a 9 inch lift on 38's next to it. The jeep has 46 inch tires

Really nice Scrambler Kurt. I bought my CJ-7 in north Jersey and it sure didn't look anywhere near that good. The poor thing quit rusting out here but the change in altitude and humidity was just too much for the old computer to deal with.

My little old 97 Toyota Tacoma has been mine since the day it left the lot, and all of 97K for mileage..... has been used for hauling all sorts of "stuff". With 2" of extra suspension lift and more leaf springs than 2 stock Tacoma's ... I have a payload capacity above and beyond a new Dodge 1/2 ton! A buddy has one with a Hemi & I love poking him in the eye about that!!!
10 squares of 35 year roofing shingles was a weeeeee bit heavy, but we made it, slow n low in the back end!
It's been paid for since 2001, so the amount of lumber hauled should be the amount of the monthly payment, right? I keep telling myself that anyway.... but one of these days a new FJ Cruiser is coming home with me, and working DIRECTLY next to a Toyota dealer is a contant tease 1st class. I had heart set on rehabbing a 70'f FJ40, but the shop is crowded enough without adding a vehicle restore on top of the WW'ing....

Greg Cole
03-22-2007, 4:54 PM
To take Mark's one for big pieces and one for little....
The Toyota in the background is for my small pieces, and the big red one is for what won't fit in the "Toy" so long as it's less than ohhh... about 35,000 lbs.
