I know you guys have to be getting tired of these but I can't seem to stop. This one is maple. 5-3/4" dia. x 4-1/8" tall. Walls 1/8". Dyed with Artisan Dye. Finished with 8-10 coats of Deft spray lacquer and wax buffed. These are also my first shots with my new camera. Comments/critiques on the piece and the photos welcome. As always, thanks for looking.

What Mike said...I'll never tire of seeing outstanding work...and these are!

I'm wondering if you need to even out the lighting a little more using some bounce to get the lower front just a hair brighter and maybe a little more diffusion for the overheads. If you post on WoW, ask specifically on this and I'm sure Jaimie and or John Lucas will comment with authority on that.

They may all be dimpled and dyed but they're all so different that I never get tired of them. I might even give the technique a try myself. This one is another beauty and the photo looks pretty good too.

I like the shape and the dimpled rim. Keep doing the dimples

Picture - distracting dark patch middle front, that said the picture would pass my test

Always a pleasure to see more of the Dyed & Dimpled Series! Keep 'em coming!

If you do get some meaningful help with improving the pics, please share it. Photographing a piece like that is a real pain. I could never get it right without some good help.

That is wonderful work!

I have a newbie question for you. When you dye the piece do you just paint it on up to the collar or do you dunk it in a container? Is the inside dyed as well?

Thanks in Advance.

Thanks for the comments Ya'all !!

Quinn, I use an airbrush to apply the dye. It is the only way to get an even coating. You can also control the opacity. I mask the parts I don't want dyed. The inside is left natural wood.
