Im getting ready to have the ductwork designed for my DC system. What I am really interested is sample workflow diagrams that some of you may have done. It would be nice to see some before I complete mine.

My shop is a standard garage so everything is mobile and gets shoved into one stall when not in use. I will have to include that fact when i design the DC so that things have a quick connect or something like it.

Calvin I'm afraid you might find no one can help you much. Every shop is configured differently due to size, type of work being done, and machinery just to name a few. Even if you saw an excellent workflow chart for someone elses shop it may be poor or impractical for yours.
My advice would be to start with graph paper and play with the layout until you can find something you are pleased with.

You might want to play around with the Shop Designer over on the Delta Tol website -- http://www.deltamachinery.com/index.asp?e=6075. It's a good place to start.

I agree that you have to think about how "you" work on projects. Think about how you process material as you progress through a typical project. That will help you determine the best physical relationship between your tablesaw, jointer and planer...the "big three" for material processing. Other tools can be placed in the shop accordingly, and some may best be put in a "coral" and only pulled out when needed.

Woodworking Online has posted a video podcast intitled "Podcast #10: Tips for Setting Up a Great Shop" very informative and covers material movement throughout the shop. While not aimed specifically to dust collection, this might be helpfull. Here's the link.
