Good morning!

In my continuing battle to get the house ready for sale, I have amassed a small pile of trim scraps (profile shown below) and a stack of drawer fronts that I made The Borg replace after their idiot installers eyeballed the holes for the handles. The trim pieces vary in length from 6-20". Outside of contributing to our nations growing landfills, is there anything useful that I can do with this stuff?

Thanks!

A couple of questions.

1. Is it wood?

2. what is the dimention from the edge to the first cove?

IF the drawer fronts are real wood rather than mush, and IF they are at least 3/4", they can be chopped up into pen blanks.

Solid wood is fine for small projects and kindling. If it's man-made...you shouldn't burn it, so the landfill is the only option if you can't use it for anything.

Have marble races on them.

Sorry, bad joke.

Bruce,

It is red oak and it is 1/4" from the edge to the first cove.

OK dan. Cut the 1/4" off. Find another wood scrap of different color, about 1/4" thick, Sandwich it between the Red oak and you can make pen blanks.

HOWEVER, Red Oak is NOT the best wood for pens. It has a tendancy to splinter.

You could use it as a Highlight wood in a project.
