View Full Version : Bandsaw Old Iron Restoration

This was my first piece of old iron that I picked up about two years ago. Since then I've restored about 10 vintage machines for my personal workshop. Had been using this one in it's original condition up until about 6 months ago. Was doing some shop layout changes, accidently tipped the saw and broke a part. Luckily it was easily fixed but i took the opportunity to tear the entire machine down and rebuild it. :)

Runs smooth and is hefty for a 16" saw at 500lbs. 10.5" resaw with up to a 1" band. Manufactured by Duro Metal Products who went out of buisness many years ago. This saw is from the 1940's best guess. Thanks for looking.

wow, what a cool looking saw.. sure beats the welded steel frame on style. how do you like it?

Nice looking machine you have there. I always enjoy seeing old iron being brought back to life. I have a Duro 12" scrool saw that wieghs a ton. Congrats on the rebuild.

Beautiful Band Saw......

I really like the tensioning wheel and the style. WHat motor / voltage are you running?

Thanks for the comments. Something about bandsaws makes them my favorite machine. This one was a lot of work to restore but I took my time and enjoyed it.

Roy the motor is a 3/4hp 220v single phase and seems to be a good fit.

Definitely a great looking machine! Nice clean restoration, Ron...I bet it cuts great!

Ron, congratulations on the restoration, looks like the saw will give you many years of great service.

I noticed that there is no guard on the drive belt, which always makes me nervous. Have you thought about adding one?

Actually I have and I'm sure a Delta 14" bandsaw drive guard will fit just right. Just a matter of acquiring another one. The original saw did not come with a guard. OHSA wasn't around in the 1940s :)
