After a few (ok, a dozen) headaches, I've completed my first "real" project, a Walnut coffee table.
Up until now, I've just built a few simple shelves, while practising other skills (mainly bandsawing curves and turning on the lathe).
I patterned the table after one built by my grandfather about 40 years ago my father recently found in a local antique shop.
Overall, I'm pretty happy with the results, although the camera is quite kind. There are definately some things I need to do better (especially glue lines and the mortises for the legs).
Thanks to everyone who offered me help on the project; even those that didn't respond to my questions helped out through all the informative posts found here. this place is awesome!
All comments and critiques are welcome ... let me know what you all think:)

"First project"? I'm not buyin' it! That's fantastic Mark. Your grandfather would be proud. It appears you've found a natural calling.

Outstanding work, Mark!

(Wish the pics were a little larger for details, but what I see is just great!)

That looks great, let alone for your first project. I made my first table out of 2x4s and framing nails!
What's next?

Thanks for all the kind words:) I have to admit I found the original pattern for the legs in the workshop, and I had a model to go by as well. Not sure what I'll try next, I'm thinking about a blanket chest... out of curiousity, how do you all do good mortises on a round workpiece?
