Hi, this is a falconry hood display cabinet.MY dad is a falconer on the east coast.Im making this for him for Fathers day. Its 3/4 oak with dadoed shelving and mitered door with rabbetted inset for glass. Pretty basic but im happy with how it turned out. Its has 2 coats of poly on it now. When im done I will put up follow up pictures.Should be this weekend.
I have a question. I can see wood filler through the poly, the excess, the hole wood filler doesnt bother me its the splash out that must be in the grain of the wood. Can I just sand it out with a vibrating sander an touch the poly back up?
I have read a tip of using tape to nail through and then fill holes in tape with wood filler and then pull off tape so you have no excess spread.Does this work well?

Thanks for looking!

Craig the tape sounds like a winner in my opinion. Nice looking display cabinet. Can't wait to see it full of the little hoods.
