Hi, this is my first post with pics and I see it worked. I have been building two end tables out of poplar. There to go in a bedroom. This is the first real furniture project I have done since 1992.From 88 to 92 I went to a vocational school and took 4 years of carpentry.Im limited on joints right now so I used 99% pocket holes. The draws I put on wood slides.I was scared to mess with metal slides due to the rustiness of my memory:confused:
I will be finished with it this weekend and add more pics to this post.

I think my next purchase will be a 1) joiner 2) DC system 3) mortiser
My Shop is in a 3 car garage and im allowed one stall:
I already have a rockler router table with bosch plunge an fixed router, Ridgid table saw, Biscuit joiner, 12" ridgid chop saw, sanders, skill saw, bosch jig saw, porter cable compressor with 3 gun kit, my custom workbench, 7" quick release rockler vise, drills and all necessary hand tools.
Thanks for looking.

Looking good, Craig. 'Nothing wrong with pocket screws, either. I find myself using them more and more and they are perfectly adequate for tables like this--unless you also plan on using them for chairs, etc. ;) You get clean, strong joints and fast assembly.

Nice work Craig, I have built cabinets with pocket screws, but I have yet to try them on something like this. Are you going to paint it?

I have two coats of red mahogany min wax stain on it and two coats of poly right now drying.I used gel stain first and had a horrible experience with it and had to sand it off.It affected the outcome still but its a lesson learned.
When I was in schools we always used stain an poly. Now im reading so much about shellacs, wax, dyes etc. Im a bit overwhelmed with it all, finishing hasnt been easy for me.

Hey Craig:

You hit on alot of skills on this project. I find myself more and more curious about the Kreg jig.

As for your being allowed only one garage stall........HEY....plan your projects properly and you'll have 2 stalls in no time, eventually you'll only have to leave room for one car at the end of the day.

Nice work, Craig. They look like they suit their final resting place perfectly. You're not alone in feeling overwhelmed by the endless array of finishing options. It seems like it's quite often one of the last areas of expertise that woodworkers really feel confidence in. Looks like you pulled it off in the end though, not to mention growing a little wiser along the way!

Nice finish Craig, nothing to worry about on that one. Popular isn't very stain "friendly" as hardwood goes. Tends to get blotchy. your's looks pretty good.
