A couple weeks ago I posted a picture of a dry fit up of this table. I finally got it done and delivered yesterday. The customer wanted the table stained honey pine. I prefer to dye and finally found a Transtint dye called Honey Amber. A dyed piece of alder appeared to be the color that the customer wanted. When I showed her the sample I also showed her a piece I dyed with Antique Cherry Brown but figured it was darker that she wanted. In short she liked the Antique Cherry Brown over the Honey Amber. Finish is 3 coats of Rockler Polyurethane Gel.

Front view of computer table sitting on my fit up table which looks a lot like a Jet table saw. I like to bevel the bottom edge of table tops. The 1" top is beveled at 45 degrees leaving 1/4" edge. Top is attached using pocket holes screws.

The slats are ½" x 1". Rails are 1" x 3".

Drawer front is cut away for keyboard access without the hassle of a drop down front. There is a 1 1/4" access hole in the back for cables. The drawer is 15" deep with 14" full extension glides. I left 20" for a keyboard between the 1 ½" high dividers that provide a convenient place to store pencils and stuff along each side.

</p><img src="http://www.woodnheart.com/wc/ctbl3.jpg">
The legs are 1 3/4" square with a 1/8" taper over the bottom 3" of all 4 sides. The shelf sits on cleats and is attached to the rails with pocket screws. Because there is no rail across the front of the table the shelf screwed to the bottom rails gives stability to the front legs.

Thanks for viewing.

Wow, that turned out great, Dave. Your customer made the right decision on the color, IMHO...that honey amber dye (which I used on a sample of birdseye this weekend) would probably have been too yellow. The antique cherry brown is a great color and it really brought out a lot of character in the alder.

Dave, beautiful table. The figure in the top and the shelf are fantastic. Like Jim said, the color really makes it pop. Excellent piece.

Be well,

Doc

Dave, some things just don't compute! Boy this unit sure does! You did a very nice job. I like the separators as well.
