Absolutely amazing work Jim! Love the form, color contrast and natural wood interior. Once again you display a talent for exceptional turnings!

That might hold soup but it's still art.

Nice one, Jim!

Stunning! I'm just amazed at all the creativity and artistic value in this group of creekers. I often was going to try ebonizing with small jewelry boxes(flat work) but never got around to it. My wife will flip when I show her the picture of this. She loves that color of black!! Jim, any chance you know how to do TortiseShell?

That is a beautiful piece... the contrast is lovely. Any special way you applied it? I have tried dying pieces, but have never really selectively died a piece. Did you dye the outside before you turned the inside???? Anyway, you did an awesome job!

The black exterior adds an amazing 'richness' to the piece. Of course without a great form and proportion, it wouldn't have the appeal your piece does.

Like the sloping rim and base too.

Jim,

I've seen a lot of fancy forms and while they may be amazing in their own right, the simplicity and beauty of this is an absolute knockout. I hope to someday produce such a beautiful piece myself.

Great piece Jim !! As has been said, the form has to be there to carry it off and you got it perfect as usual !!

I'd be interested to know how this process works. I've seen torch burning before. Is it the same?
