Anyone ever built / seen this plan? Any thougts or comments?

It looks like it might be a little too complicated for an amateur like myself :(

Looks a great deal like Danny Prolux's "Mobile Table Saw Center" from his book "Building Woodshop Workstations". Danny's design is a little simpler. The book covers making workshop work stations and cabinets with common materials. He covers many different quick construction techniques, providies plans, illustrated drawings and materials lists. I think his book is a great place to get started with basic woodworking techniques, custom building a shop at the same time.

I think the Wood mag one you've linked to is a very popular plan. I've thought of building a mobile stand myself and my research seems to indicate well over half of the units I've seen others build have been based on this plan.

One of these days I'm going to order the plans. I've been hoping to find the original magazine article or something so I didn't have to buy it because I sorta wanna see the plans FIRST and decide if it is something I want to tackle. Not that $7 (I think that is the charge) is a lot of money, but I waste soooo much money on plans that never materialize already, you know what I mean.

The Wood magazine plans call for a sort of torsion box botton (again, haven't seen the plans, just going by what I've read) with boxes on top. The torsion box bottom supports all the weight w/o sagging. The idea I had was building a torsion box bottom with t-slots on the top. I could then add/move/replace/adjust the boxes on top w/ a lot of ease. That way, I could adjust the entire unit to a different saw or router setup w/o even having to drill new holes.

Let us know if you build on and how it comes out.

Oh, and if anyone knows any books that have the actual Wood magazine plans, please let me know, I'd like to get a copy from the library. Or if they know the magazine article they originally appeared in, I might be able to use that, too.

Thanks!
Phil
