I have read though the forums and got a lot of good information on what is good and what is not.
So I put it all together and rebuilt my 54 year old saw, it now cut like a new one and it is as square as it can get.

I added a Mule Accusquare M 825 rip fence. an Osborne EB-3 miter gauge.
I realigned everything to the miter groove with a SuperBar and Master Plate. I also added a precision alignment locking system which made the squaring of the blade much easier, I don't think I could have done it without it.
I built a small extension for the left side to give me more room for the EB-3 miter gauge, which I just love. I have two Forrst blades on order and that should do it.

Again, Thanks to everyone :) :) :)

That looks like the little C-man I inherited from my grandpa sitting under there. If it is (or a close cousin) it is really a beautiful little saw; thick cast iron, heavy trunnions, I just haven't been able to part with it although I don't use it right now.

Great job on tweaking a solid machine and adding some great after market stuff!

This was was my dad's and he bought it in 1952 or 53 and used it in his shop and then put a metal cut off blade on it and use it to cut tubing with. Well the metal shaving got in and messed up the gears so in 1970 he was going to junk it.
I was able to get all the parts from Sears at the time and fixed it up and have been using all this time. But the fence was really bad and the miter guide was the pits so I did the rework on it.

It is a Sears Model 103.23834, 8 inch Bench Saw.

Where did you get your EB-3 miter gauge? I have one, want to replace the fence on it and can't find new for sale or parts anywhere?

You will love that mule fence....

Thanks Glenn, it is a great saw and does everything I want it to do. I don't do a lot of big projects but everything I have done has come out great.

I did do the 5 step on the miter the other night just as a check and it came out a little less then .001 would could ask for anything more.
