To those who are following this:
Earlier thread
http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=53208&highlight=Calling+Jointer

First many thanks to Allen Bookout for his putting up with me
and his solution etc. Thanks Allen

The Shop Fox 8 inch jointer has two (one each side) cut outs in the dust collection chute that are above the exit point. It appears that any plug start at the cutter end will grow as the dust collector will pull more and more from the cut outs and allow the chip plug at the cutter end to grow and finally cut off any chip movement toward the dust collector.

The solution is to block the two cutouts and anyone starting fresh with assembly should look at blocking these two holes prior to installing the jointer bed on the stand.

Otherwise the solution posted by Allen Bookout works great.

I used 1/4 ply approx 8 1/2 wide by 17 inches long and force fit it into the dust chute. I used the old stand by duct tape to seal the help support the end nearest the cutter head.

No more chip build up and clear dust chute and no throw back of chips.

Hope this helps.

Sorry no pics. but Allen has a couple with the earlier post.
I had very cold feet about doing this but it turned out to be very
easy and effictive.
As I noted I used 1/4 ply and ran it from the top edge of the dust chute exit to the top of the sheet metal next to the actual jointer bed. There is a little ledge at that point that makes a great stopping point.
Should be approx 17 inches long.
