View Full Version : Good Canadian source for DeWalt batteries?

Well, after two and a half years of service in my cordless drill, my 18v dewalt batteries have finally bit the dust. It seems that amazon can't ship most tools over the border, and amazon.ca doesn't carry them at all, so I'm wondering if anyone knows where a Canuck can get a better price on a pair of new batteries than what the big orange box sells them for.

Thanks,

Hi Jesse.

If it is not a big hassle you might send the old batteries to battery rebuilders (http://www.batteryrebuilders.com/) in Pennsylvania. I had my 12V DeWalts rebuilt by them, and came away with a better set of batteries than DeWalt supplied new. Both batteries were rebuilt for around $70 US.

That's a good idea Ken. When they started to fade I'd thought about looking into having them rebuilt, but I guess I'd forgot about that option. I'll look into it.

I don't know where you are in Canada, but I believe Total Battery in Ottawa rebuilds them.

There's a bunch of them on Ebay...even more if you want to buy from the U.S.

You might want to check out these guys: http://www.batterybuyer.com/
I haven't used them personally, but their prices seem good, and they were selling a lot of batteries at the Ottawa (Ontario) woodworking show last fall, so I picked up a flier from them.
Whatever you decide, I'm sure others would appreciate feedback on your purchase!

Thanks for all your responses. I'm going to need my drill pronto, so I'll check out all those links right away and maybe make some phone calls in the morning. There's a duty on anything power tool related that comes across the border, so that's why I'm looking for a Canadian source. Ebay is probably a good idea, but I've never bought anything over ebay so I don't know if I have time to figure out the whole bidding system before I need the batteries.

Jesse,
Check out batterybuyer.com. They have been getting a lot of attention at Ontario shows this year already. I'm certain they can help you. 800-730-volt
