I am trying to raster engrave buckskin leather that has not been sealed, dyed or water proofed. The engraving looks great, but it smudges with the lightest touch and makes the piece look dirty
Is there anyway to solve the smudging problem.
Thank, Rich

I used Johnson light paste wax before engraving along with transfer paper and then wax again after engraving. That was 7 years ago and it still looks like new.

Richard,
One thing we learned was do not wipe it after it comes out of the laser. Let it set for about 1 hr. and then use an air hose and blow the debri off. Then treat it with a leather conditioner. We used Fiebings care 4 from tandy.
