I turned this bowl from a apple blank from John Hart's stash of blanks. I haven't used much wet wood in the past . I turned it down quite a bit and then dryed it in the microwave oven. after it was dry I finished turning. I used a poly wipe on and then finished with min wax and buffed it.
The size is 5 3/4 x 5 1/2 x 2" deep. (slightly oval)

Earl, you took beautiful wood and used a classic form to make a lovely bowl which you and your family will be proud owners for years to come.

Nicely done, Earl. Do you care to elaborate on the microwave drying technique. Is there 'rule of thumb' on drying time?

That's the thing I like the most about working with wood. You will never run out of beautiful grain patterns. This was a great example of putting a fine grain to use in a beautiful bow. Nicely done.:D

Thanks for all the nice comments. It was a pleasure turning the bowl.

Keel, I have dried alot of pen blanks in the microwave, but 70% of them split .With the bowl I started with 15 secs and worked up to about 3 mins several times a day. To test I used a cold spoon and it would show when moisture was being emited.
