This was my project this weekend just before I decided to finally put more lights in the shop. I had so many catches on this because of poor visibility that I went Sunday and picked up two 8' flourescents just to add a bunch of ambient light. My one horse garage now has lots of lumens in it.

In any case, this is a 5"x2" candy type bowl out of chakte kok. The finish is shellac and wax with a buff for good measure. Unfortunately my other pictures came out really bad so this is the winner. At least the color came out good.

To look at it, I wouldn't think you had a bit of trouble. Pretty lil' bowl. I like the rim treatment too. Nice work!:)

That is one beautiful bowl! The wood is gorgeous as is the form. Does the wood lose its red color in time like many of the other red colored woods?

Very pretty piece. Can't see any tear-out from here. Good job getting rid of it!

I appreciate the compliments guys. Jonathon, I don't know for sure but I believe it will lose its color eventually. It won't get much sun in the livingroom though so it should keep the color for a while. I really think the wood pulled the majority of the weight in this piece.
