Glue up for railing

I'm preparing some glue ups for some railings, want to redo the staircases in my house. I assume that for a railing, if using glue ups the end grain goes on the sides?

Does anyone have any pictures of some impressive stair cases too? I'm looking for some ideas.

I'm not sure what you mean by 'glue ups'. If you're making curved railings you would normally laminate strips so there wouldn't be any end grain to deal with.

I think you mean the edge grain, and yes, it goes to the side. All rails are laminated from three layers. It is much more stable. The newer rails are called engineered rails and are actually glued up differently, but that's more infomation then you want.
