Guys,
Here some more dyed pieces I have prepared for an upcoming show. All maple, one is curly (soft) and it is laquered. Others are Danish, all Beall Buff. Enjoy, comments good & bad are welcome.

Frank, those are all beautiful. Can you elaborate on how you dyed the ones with multiple colors?

Beautiful work Frank! Kind of a tie-dyed effect. I am partial to the red bowl - really makes the wood POP! Nice work!

Nice use of color. I have been playing with some coloring on scrap lately but I am a bit colorphobic so have not had the guts to do it on a real piece yet.

Beautiful! I agree with Mark, we need a "How-To".

Thanks Guys, Pretty Simple really.

I turn and power sand to 400. Hand sand with 600.

Then with the pre-mixed Alchol dyes, Artisan from Crafts Supply I wipe it on with a paper towel, following the grain. Darkest first (black) lightest color last (yellow). Or combinations like the Platter is black/green/yellow.

Buff each dye job dry with a paper towel. Sand to soften the edges of the dye swipes. I use 400 and 600 for this softening exercise. Blow and wipe clean with towel.

I've used Danish, Antique and Cheap hardware store clear laquer for finishes and the color doesn't move.

These are pieces 5, 6 & 7 of this Dye 'phase'. There is a story in the AAW Journal this month but that guy sure made it harder than I have.

I'm still playing with this, people seem to like it and its a great use of plain maple.

Thanks

Frank
