The pics I hope I attached are of tapered stave vessels pretty much copied from Tibbetts book, I hope he doesn't mind, but at least I did buy the book. They are pretty interesting to make and I thought worth a post. They are about as much a table saw project as a lathe project and once you successsfully make the jig you might as well make a couple, as I did.

Those are really nice Dave. I made a similar type of vessel a few months ago, and they are fun to make. Very nice work with the different woods, colors, and contrasts, and nice finish and form

Dave, nice job with these. I'm glad that my book provided a little help. If you enjoyed this technique, next try cutting your staves from laminated material - you can achieve some really wild effects. Have fun.

Wow!!! Don't know if I've the patience to even try something like that. Those are beautiful. How much time is invested in something like that.
