Welcome to the Creek Wyman! I know there are lots of different ways people use to sign their work - I use a gel pen and sign the bare wood before applying a finish. Been doing it for years - works well for me.

Just got a new Razortip burner. The .08 writing pen is just like writing with an ink pen. Writes good on light or dark wood and it's VERY permanent. No chance of a finish smearing it off.

A fine point "Sharpie" does well, and most spray on finishes don't bother it.. now brushed on laquer... I don't know, but it does fine with spray on..
