I got my new 10" slider thru Amazon and started playing with it last night.
When I extend the table wings and lay a straight edge across the saw, I have 1/4" gap between the table and the straight edge. I can fix this but it's just a shame when you spend $400 on a saw and it has these kind of problems. Should I complain to Makita or Amazon? Or should I shut up, fix it myself and try to remind myself that this is a small sacrifice to put up with in order to make these kind of tools affordable?

First off, I'm sure Makita never intended to make a product that far off. You don't mention the model but I assume these are slide out extensions(?). This sounds like a damaged unit from the info provided. Once your assured that there is nothing foreign causing the misalignment I would contact Amazon directly. Several folks here have wasted weeks by going to the manufacturer when Amazon will apparently send you a replacement unit right away. I have not had the experience, just relaying what I've read in the posts. Good luck.
