Can anyone recommend something cheap to buy from amazon so I can save on shipping costs? I tried a couple random things, but they were not eligible for super saver shipping.

A 6" pocket ruler? Box of screws? Extra router bit? That extra long bradpoint bit I swear I'm gonna pick up everytime I have to cheat a long hole through?

A good book (http://www.amazon.com/Pale-Blue-Dot-Vision-Future/dp/0345376595/) or CD?

I've had that happen to me a couple of times and bought a pocket rule for $1.99 - it was the cheapest thing I could find that was "Amazon" eligible. I had no interest in the rule but Amazon shipped it in a separate box so they really lost out. I'd have been happy to pay the extra $1 to get the free shipping and not have them ship me anything extra - and both of us would have been happy.

Maybe I'll give the rules as a gift one day - one's english and the other's metric.

I ended up getting a 6" ruler for $2.99, which saves me from the $9.99 shipping charges.

I found this site which helped some:
www.isearchbetter.com
It filters the search results so that only super saver items show up.

This is my all time favorite:

IRWIN 225102 100 Series 2" C-Clamp
Price: $1.67
Ships from and sold by Amazon.com.
ASIN: B0000CCXVR

So just put B0000CCXVR into the search bar and you'll find it. Works great for topping of my account for the free shipping.

And you can never have enough clamps right? :D

This Jet Blast gate (4" plastic) would work too:

Hans - thanks for that pointer. I have been frustrated many times by all the non-Amazon items in a search, where I'd have to pay shipping and not get Amazon's guarantee. And they're no cheaper than Amazon's prices.

I haven't really used it yet, but the idea is great.

My favorite filler item is a Freud Forstner bit, because it's something that I will actually use. I have a bunch of cheap $1-2 clamps I've used as fillers, but they just take up space.

Frued forstner bits usually run between $7-12, but it's something you can use.

Also, they have regular drill bits too.. So you can get a pack of eight 1/8" bits.. again, something you will use.

neat site mark. I just plugged in $2.67 for fun... and wound up ROFL over the 2nd item on the list... just the name struck me as funny.
