I managed to save a turning last night after a bad catch with a skew. I wanted to turn the whole thing as one peice, but it didn't work out as planned. The finial at the top was suppose to be the stem. I was about to throw it away, but it was such a nice peice of wood. So I made a new stem and base for it. It turned out okay, I guess.
Thanks for looking.

I think that's the first "box-on-a-stem" that I've seen! What a wonderful turn of events. Pretty nice Liem.

Good work Liem!
It was too nice of a piece to let it die. I'm glad you saved it. It loks like it was planned that way all along.

Thanks for looking guys. I forgot to mention, it's made of spalted red oak and the stem is walnut.
