Has anyone ordered through them? How is their quality? Is there a better online source than them?

I may have to have wood shipped so I want to get the best price/quality I can.

Not the greatest prices, but if they've got something you need/want, they're good people to deal with.

And they do enjoy their work...this is the email I got when my order shipped:

Good news, Lee! Our highly trained and skilled team of 50 employees has - with great care and attention - selected, packaged and shipped your order XXXXX on this beautiful day, 2/16/2007.
We had a lively celebration afterwards and the whole party marched down the street where the entire city of Phoenix came out, waved 'Bon Voyage!' to your package, and patted the UPS driver on the back.
Local TV stations sent in cameras and reporters who asked, "What does Lee DeRaud intend to make with this?" We offered no comment so we wouldn't spoil your surprise. We do hope to see pictures of what you make so we can have another city-wide celebration.
I hope you had a wonderful time shopping at Woodworkers Source. We enjoyed every minute of it, and
your picture is on our wall as "Customer of the Year". We're all exhausted but can't wait for you to come back to Woodworkers Source!

After you receive your order, we'd love to know what you think: http://www.woodworkerssource.net/myorder/ (http://www.woodworkerssource.net/myorder/)
Thanks again,

Wow, that's the best shipping notice I've ever seen. Beats the heck out of Amazon!

Wow Lee, just how much did you order?

It sorta reads like they were able to sell the store and retire just on Lee's order alone.
I needed a chuckle. Thanks Lee.

They have a good reputation. I believe the owner contributes his expertise to WOOD Online from time to time...

I just received 20 bf of cherry delivered to my doorstep. You gotta love that. I was sent the same email as Lee and thought it was clever.
The cherry was just okay. Not what I was hoping for, but it was all usable. Plus it was as cheap as any cherry around here and I didn't have to leave the house.

How was it shipped? What size was the package? Do they protect the wood well?

How was it shipped? What size was the package? Do they protect the wood well?Mine was a 10bf "hobby pack", works out to 4-5ft long, 8" or so wide, 3-4" thick. (I think you can ask for longer boards, but it may cost more if it exceeds some UPS limit. For this stuff (spalted maple I'm chopping up small anyway), I just took what they gave me.)

It was wrapped in that pallet-wrap plastic, a layer of cardboard around that, and another layer of plastic around the whole thing. They tell you to have a knife handy when it arrives...they're not kidding.

I buy from Woodworker's Source locally. Nice people and I'm always able to find what I want. Pricing can be a bit higher than some alternatives, but the service is excellent. They sell tools too.

I've found their quality and service to be excellent. Prices are a bit higher than other places like InternetLumber or CurlyWoods.
