Hello everyone. I am looking for a source for "fun foam" sheets. I am needing 1/4 inch thick sheets. I am also needing setting for cutting the sheets.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks everyone!

I have gotten it at Michael's, Ben Franklin, and JoAnne fabric

There's also a "Foamies" brand:

On my 45 watt I cut 1/16" at speed 50 power 15 frequency 500 400dpi,
2 layers (1/8") at 40/25/500

Never tried 1/4".

I engrave it at speed 100 power 50.

Leigh,

I believe I have also seen it at Hobby Lobby.

I've gotten lucky and found it at Dollar Stores here. It's only 18" x 12" pieces but still cheap.

Can someone tell me what material "fun foam" or "craft foam" is actually made from? I tried to research this once but had no luck identifying the material iteslf. I have lasered it as a test and it lasered fine, but wanted to know what it actually was (hopefully no PVC). It appears that others on the forum are lasering it.

Just stopped by Joann's Fabric, and they have 12 sheets (12" x 18") for $4.69

Makes my Dollar Store prices look overpriced. :)

Thanks for all the tips everyone! Soon as I can go out again, I will check those places. Our local Wally World has some 5 x 8 sheets, but I need the 9 x 12. (ish). Once I have my surgical repositioning of the nerves in my arms complete, I am going to laser away. ;)

Hi Richard,
Fun Foam is generally a product called EVA foam. Ethylene Vinyl Acetate. Wiki lookups and searches for its' MSDS and so far there are no indicators that it is unsafe to Laser.

Search the net for EVA foam and you will find industrial suppliers who can sell you large sheets ( 1m x 2 m ) at a far lower cost than "fun foam"

Cheers,
