View Full Version : Drawknife- makers marks?

I recently got an old drawknife from my Dad. It has the following mark on the blade (the X is actually a bit larger, the *s are in the top and bottom crotches of the X and the “feathers” on the arrow are packed closer together). Modern Pfeil carving tools have a similar but different arrow type shape. I assume this is a maker’s mark of some type. Can anyone shed any light on these marks in general and this one in particular?

Thanks
Jim

Good bet that it was made in Germany.
;)

I'm sure someone here will give you useful info. [Unlike yours truly.]

Sounds a whole lot like the Green River brand of buffalo skinner fame. Can you post a pic? Philip

Here's a photo of the mark. Sorry the resolution is so poor. The arrow head just to the left of the X doesn't show clearly here.
