Here is the last piece of that wild spalted maple. It was just something about the colors in it that reminded me of a Krispy Cream Donut, or it could have been that this was early in the morning and I was hungry?

Anyway it finished at 11" x 5" and the walls are 1/4" constant. It was sanded to 1000 grit, two coats of Watco and then buffed.

Thanks for looking.

Dick, if you had gone another direction with the finish, perhaps you would have a Glazed Donut? :D

Seriously, that's a great looking HF! Glad to see you posting stuff!

Well, thanks a lot Dick. My diet was going just fine until I saw "THIS". Then I had to run out and get a dozen. Your piece is just too appetizing! Great stuff!!

Dick, if you're keeping that one for yourself, be sure to display it somewhere by its lonesome, lest it draw ALL the attention away from any nearby pieces! :D Whew...Beautiful! I know I'd put it somewhere special in my house and, real, REAL far away from my own stuff! :o :)

I know we aren't supposed to go grocery shopping when hungry, but now we can't turn when hungry either? That wood is amazing, and your form really shows it off.

Dick I've ate a lot of Crispy Creme donuts but I've never opened up a box and seen anything this pretty.

Thanks for the nice comments everyone. This was fun to do, but a challenge to get the underside even with the rest of the walls.

Unless I uncover the next pile out back and find some more, this is the last of the wild maple.

It is kind of nice to get back to fresh cut wood again for a change.

Dick. That is jaw-droppingly gorgeous.

I can see that with a very high price tag on it in a studio.
