Here is a walnut bowl that finished out at 11" x 4". The dark part is starting to lighten up a bit but after I put the watco on it this bowl was black and white and really looked cool.

It has two coats of watco and was buffed on the lathe.

Looks good Dick, I like the contrast. The rim adds to the piece.

Beautiful bowl Dick! The form, the finish, the wood......just beautiful. Must be something about the air in that part of the country! Turning talent seems to run amuck there!

Hi Dick,

Nicely done. Very nice shape, as mentioned before great contrast. The bowl loos almost wet. Good JOb.

Once again - beautiful work! Love the use of sap wood! Nice details on rim and foot. Finish really highlights the grain.

Very nice, Dick! Don't know why but, I always seem to have a problem with tool marks on Walnut. Need to follow your example! :D Great looking wood, form and details. Well done, sir! :) :cool:

Beautiful bowl... the shape is really nice. The sapwood streak sure adds alot! So is that an endgrain bowl?

Thanks for the nice comments. My wife also loves this bowl so it might not be going anywhere soon.:D

Hope I can find some more of this walnut, at least I know now to keep an eye out for it and not toss it aside because there isn't enough walnut color in it.:eek:
