Anyone have a source for bloodwood bowl blanks? SWMBO has commissioned a bloodwood bowl, but wants one out of a 3"+ thick blank. She likes the shape of the bowls from the thicker ones as opposed to the 2" thick blanks. I asked about glueups and she'd prefer not.
I've tried a couple places locally and on the web and haven't had much luck. Thanks in advance for your help.

Amazon Exotic Hardwoods has a few different sizes. Good guy to work with too.

Ask Jim King. I bet he has a warehouse full of it.

Yeah. Sickening, isn't it? Kinda makes me want to pack my things and move to Peru. Except that I wouldn't be able to take the heat!

Gary,
Just in case it wasn't one of the local places you tried, Hibdon may have something. (If you don't see it in the showroom, ask--they have a huge building full of stuff...)

Keith, Hibdon was the first place I called. They don't carry any bloodwood over 4/4. Good thought tho.

My other 2 thoughts would be ebay and Rockler (they actually had a lot of turning blanks at the WW show). Good luck!

If you look at the photo references on this site http://www.exotic-wood.com/bloodwood.htm it seems that theres almost no difference between bloodwood and african pauduk. I think the pauduk is a lot easier to get too.
