Got my box of Hart wood today also. Was a pretty piece of walnut (?) that was crying out to be a plate. I just had to try turning a plate (my first) with it.

The picture isn't very good. My husband wanted a photo 'now'. It's the first really wet wood I've ever turned. It's off to the drying shelf. Should I put sticks under it so the air circulates better?

Bonnie I do on mine. Gets the air flowing better. Looks like it is going to be pretty nice when done. Good job so far.

Great start Bonnie, can't wait to see it finished.

I use those white wire shelfs that you hand on a wall, that lets air flow under the bowl, platter or HF. But sticks will do the job fine.

Looks pretty good Bonnie. It'll probably move just a little. So far, I've had just a little deflection over the drying period. You dove right in, dint cha?;) :D
