Shark Guard Question

The anti-kickback pawls are an option on the Shark Guard. Any thoughts as to whether this is a worth while option? Thanks.

IMHO, no. I removed them from the Biesemeyer splitter I used on my old saw, too. Withthe splitter properly functioning, the pawls have nothing to do except possibly damage your material...especially thin veneers.

I bought them because they are only another $7. I figured if I don't like them I can take them off and am only out $7. I'm still waiting for mine to arrive or I'd tell you if they're any good.

I didnt get the prawls with my Shark Guard.

Kelly Mehler of "The Table saw Book" wrote an article on Splitters and Blade Guards for FWW, and said that prawls were unneccesary. The splitter is the most important part.

I have had my Shark guard for a short time and got the pawls, as that was my personal preference. Having had it, installing it, and using it I don't believe that they are required. This is based on how well the splitter works and the fact that the pawls basically just sit there. I am very happy with my purchase.:)
