Hello all, I have been working diligently on my first turned candy jar and I found a problem that I can't seem to figure out. I glued up 4 rough cut pieces of hardwood (not sure what spices) to make a blank that's 8" X 6" and my questions how do you find the center of a blank that does not have equal sides? I am sure I'm over looking something but I thought I better check before I end up with another blank that's out of alignment..

Thanks in advance for your help.

Are you trying to find the center of a regular piece, or are you trying to get the maximum diameter possible out of an irregular? Two different operations. Best way to do the second is to do compass swings from the edges. Equal distances, may take a second set of swings if you didn't guess close enough the first time.

If you never had Euclidian geometry, do a web search on bisecting a line.
