I want to get a pin nailer as I have finally stepped into the 20th century and have gotten an air compressor. :)
I want one that goes to the very small pin nails.. I don't remember how small is possible but I can see myself using 1/4 inch in length if that were available.

Suggestions

Thanks in advance.

I own the Senco and I have been very happy with it. I got it two years ago @ the Woodworks show in Ft. Washinton (Actually bought it from Jim Senco) The gun is well balanced and I have put a lot of pins through it and it has not malfunctioned once. I like the soft grip very comfy in hand.

The PC has somewhat of a saftey in the trigger lock and you do not have to adjust the gun for different size pins where you do have to on the Senco but @ the time I paid $125 (With an assortment of Pins) for the Senco and the PC was $140 @ the PC booth and they were not budging on the price. For me it made it a no brainer

Senco has always been a world class tool and this one is no different. Grex get a lot of good reviews but they are pricey. If I was a production house then I would look hard at them but with the quality of the Senco I do not feel that I "Sacraficed" so I am very satisfied Senco owner.

Bought this one www.bosstoolsupply.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=7299 (http://www.bosstoolsupply.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=7299)

I have actually use it more than I anticipated. Absolutely no problems altough I wish it had a better safety on the trigger. No problem though the small pins don't hurt much:D

By the way, only paid $29.95

I have the 23 ga. PC "pinner" and love it for particular situations. I use it to pin my outside corners on crown and if I can reach the backside on my inside corners. Works great for that and small moldings too. It only shoots 1" pins whereas some other brands shoot longer but I don't seem to need anything past 1" anyway. Leaves almost no holes though!

I bet you it is the same as this one (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250086868382&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fsearch.ebay.com%3A80%2Fsearch%2Fse arch.dll%3Ffrom%3DR40%26satitle%3D250086868382%26f vi%3D1).

I paid about $30, including shipping. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. If I lost it tonight, I'd buy the same one tomorrow.

I also use this one and like it very much. I would have preferred a 23 gauge but the cost of a pin/brad nailer in 23 gauge was more than I wanted to go.

Once you own one you will wonder

how you ever got along with out and will

reach for it constantly. Most used gun in the aesenal.

That being the case, why mess around.

Get the best. GREX

Per - what is it that makes Grex the best?

John,

Grex invented the 23 guage pin nailer.
The fit, finish, ergonomics, well just about everything about

the grex says just super well made.

I look at it this way..its a gun.

I make my living with a gun.

I want the best.

I have two others, one brand name one sorta brand name.

They haven't seen air since.

I've got the Porter-Cable. It does OK, but I don't make my living with it. I probably use it on almost every project, though.

Hi Chris,

If you will be working like Per go Grex. If you will only be able to use it occasionally or if $$$ is tight I have had good luck with the Harbor Freight $20. If I start working more will haave the Grex.

Chris: I looked at and bought a 23 ga pin nailer a little more than a year ago. They are wonderful. I was going to buy the Grex but I found out that they don't shoot slight headed pins. The Cadex and Nikle shoot both headless pins and brads ( slight headed pins ). The slight headed pins have may times the holding capacity than the headless. I experminted by nailing boards together and then pulling them apart. As long as you are going to spend the money the Cadex isn't any more expensive than the Grex and just as good quality. They are both upper-end machines. Plus you get the capability of using both types of nails. I had called the Grex company to find out. You could check and maybe they do now but a year ago they didn't. I think that this is a shortcoming of an otherwise excellent gun. I bought the Cadex cpb-2335 from Floyd tools. I love the gun and it works great. (FYI There is a Cadex that shoots smaller length nails that only shoots headless pins). The cpb 2335 shoots both. The Floyd people are very nice to work with and no pressure to buy. http://www.floydtool.com
What ever you buy I would recommend getting a gun that shoots both types of pins. The hole from the slight-headed brad isn't noticeably different from the headless pins. (Maybe part of this is due to my old eyes.)
The headless pins are great for holding small parts while the glue sets but the brads actually apply more pressure and grip when you want that. FYI,
Gary

I wasn't sure how useful a pin nailer would be so instead of spending over $100 for one, I bought this one. I paid $17 from HF. If I find it a useful tool, I'll buy a good one when this breaks.

Interesting. I didn't know that you could get brads in that small wire guage. 'Learn something new every day! Thanks...could be good information if I ever want to upgrade from my "old" Accuset pinner someday!
