Giving that Stinson guy a run for his money, eh Neal? Beautiful. The coloration of the vessel and the black finial are just perfect. So is the form. Nicely done. :)

That is really nice. I have never heard of black limba before - it is very nice looking. I think you did a great job on it - the top is cool.

John, I'm not racing this dude! ;)
Gorgeous form Neal. The coloring in the Black Limba is awesome, the Blackwood compliments it nicely. Another winner for sure!

Anyone ever heard of this wood or know anything about it? It was interesting to turn. Very light and porous (really easy to hollow). In fact, the piece is literally covered with hundreds of pores (visible in the pic). Each pore was filled with a gold glint. At first I thought it was sap but it survived the sanding and Seal-A-Cell process so I guess not. It's pretty to hold and view in the right light. Kinda like gold dust all throughout the piece. Maybe they should have called it "Goldwood".

Very nice piece Neal! I recently watched Cindy Drozda's video and have started trying some mini turned boexs. You and Travis do beautiful work.

Some trees will pull minerals from the soil....like sand....and be riddled with fine particles of sand throughout. Plays havoc on sharpening. Maybe this wood eats gold!;) Perhaps you should set it on fire and extract the gold.

nah....it's worth more than its weight in gold anyway.:)

Wow, that's a beauty! That's some pretty weird wood too. It almost looks like you've textured it like orange peel. Pretty nice looking finial too.

Very nice, Neal. And cool wood.

What's with that odd horizontal reflection at the shoulders? Seems as though it's a common element to your photos.

Hoyt see things that most normal people never notice.
But now that he mentions it, I do see something like a praying mantis face with a spiky sort of alien helmet.

Andy, that's a tent reflection. I've got one of those 30" tents and usually just go with diffused lighting on each side. I need use the front tent flap and work on more even lighting.
