Wooden threads experience?

I'm working on a table design that could involve a wooden threaded joint. I'd use the Beall Wood-Threader to put a thread on a dowel -- probably a 3/4" diameter. I'm concerned about the threads getting stripped off the screw by ham-handed users. After all, the threads are held in place by only a little short-grain. Does anybody have experience with screws built this way? Are they delicate, or are they tough?

Wooden threads are not delicate at all, in fact they are very servicable and are used in many jigs, fixtures and projects. Beale's project book shows lots of wooden clamps and even a nutcracker that are desigined to be used...not just for show. I've used wooden threads on wagon wheel axles and many other shop projects through the years. The strength of the threads is relative to the species of wood that you use, the same as any other wooden mechanical joint.
