Go back in time to the mid 1950's. My older brother took a high school woodworking class; his class project was to build a buffet for my Mother. At some time over the last 50+ years, the buffet was demoted to a garage storage cabinet. It was mounted on the wall, upside down, and the doors were long gone. I salvaged the old cabinet during an estate sale. I could always make something from the wood!

I was inspired by WOOD magazine's Portable Glue/Paper Towel Center - June/July 2004 Issue 156. I made two like the one shown here for my brothers. Some changes were made to enhance the appearance: The front piece uses dado joinery, and the towel bar hangers are closet rod hangers. The wood appears to be Ash. I also made two more out of Solid Oak; one for yours truly, and one for my Son.

Nice touch Don right down to the water, brushes, and glue. I have the home shop ideas issue for 2006 that has the same setup.

Very nice use of the wood. It's definately ash. Since I haven't subscribed to Wood yet, I haven't seen that design. It looks like a handy item for the shop. Now I have another project. At least this one will use some of my "scrap" wood.

Do I also see a phantom "gloat" under the tree?:p :D

Thanks for all the nice comment everyone. I finally got Towel Center mounted a couple days ago -- sure handy!

If you look very close under the Christmas tree, you can see my Xmas present. DeWalt 703 Miter Saw:)
