Bob and I took a opportunity to go and visit Craig Feuerzeig

of Bow clamp fame at his new shop in East orange NJ.

I had a ulterior motive, I wanted to see his shop bot.

I am the skeptical type who ordinarily wouldn't consider

buying a Bowclamp, after all we have a thousand board feet of bowed hardwood on the side of the shop.

Silly me, I will never learn.

This simple precision curved piece of maple just impressed the heck out of me.

After actually playing with them, two things came instantly

to mind. Why didn't I think of this and I could of used 50 of them

on my last job.

Then there is the rig he made for finishing them.

Genius. The motorized dry cleaning rack to pass them

through a finish bath. The video is here

There was another added bonus it turns out. Bob and

I both agreed on something,

Craig is one of the coolest salt of the earth guys we have met.

A great idea, a great tool and a great guy, todays visit,

not one I will ever forget.

So, I didn't buy every clamp he had, because I need a excuse

to go back every week.

Here are some Pics.....

Ah...that's one on my "future hit list", too. Craig's got a great product that actually does what it's supposed to do and does it well. (And folks...he's also a good supporter of SMC with his own Manufacturer's Forum (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/forumdisplay.php?f=27) right here attached to our community) Looks like you had a fun time Per and Bob!

Per,
Thanks for posting.. That is clever using a dry cleaning rack. I have a set of 4 foot and 3 foot clamps and think their great.

I met a couple of rock stars today.

Imagine that...Bob and Per Swenson in my shop. Craftsmen/ gentlemen of the highest order... with lots of great ideas. A great visit, hope to have you back again soon. There's so much more to talk about...

Hopefully next time the molder will be running. The ongoing re-build is my weekend plan. I'll try and snap some pictures...we'll see how it goes.

Per,
A nice visit and very good report. The Utoob video was fantastic...I think that some dry cleaner may be missing a finished goods rack.

Neat idea, using available equipment to acheive a desired result. What about the mess if any as the material is bound to drip a little?

Thanks guys,

Fellow Creeker David Martin is to thank for finding the dry cleaning belt for me on ebay, after I mentioned the idea down stairs in the Bowclamp forum. It was perfect, with the dip in it already and everything.

I'm fabricating the tank and yes Jim, a drip pan. Rather long one too, as the three different sizes drip in three different places. But it works beautifully. I hang a Bowclamp...and it comes back to me 25 seconds later covered in wax. :D

Craig,

one of these days, I'll own me a few sets of those bow clamps. :D

Excellent idea and what a saver on the number of clamps one uses on various projects. Congrats on a product well made.
