Red Mallee Burl

[Dick Parr]

This is a Red Mallee Burl I turned last month.

It is 8" x 6" x 2" and the bowl turnout is 5" in dia. It is finished with antique oil and buffed, then a coat of Renaissance wax was put on and buffed again.

Wow! That's beautiful! I have a large manzanita burl that my produce something like that. I've had it sitting in my shop for a couple months just waiting to be cut open but I've been afraid to screw it up! Here are a few pic's, maybe you can give me direction. It is roughly the size of a basketball.
