I finally decided to try a solid segment form and I can't say as this first one was fun. I had a few problems with the dim. of ring sizes from a book I used and had to make some over. But I am happy with my first attempt.

It is made from Walnut, Cherry, Yellowheart and Ebony. There are 166 pieces total and it is 7-1/2" x 8" and is finished with antique oil and buffed with wax.

Thanks for looking

Well I think it looks great! One day I hope to have an iota of all the great talent I've seen on here.

Dick that piece is a beauty. One of these days I hope to have the patience to try one. Nice job.

Great start Dick! I also want to attempt one. I downloaded a free set of plans and instructions to do a pretty simple, shallow bowl. Lord knows I've got plenty of scrap laying around!

That does look great. I KNOW I will never have the patience to do one. I might glue a couple different colored boards together some time. Nice job. Looks real pretty.

That looks great, Dick. The joints are nice and tight and the colors are complimentary. I'm with John; I'd never have the patience to do something like that.

Thanks everyone, this was fun but did try my patience. This first one took over a week to make but as Keith said, the next one will be easier to complete.

Thanks again.

PS, this is your fault Keith.
