Hey all! Another question here. I bought this from Grizzly... http://ec1.images-amazon.com/images/P/B0000DD0VA.01-A3TQ3OIW6NTQKL._AA280_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpg

I was reading that it was very important for setting up the table saw blade, etc. Well I just got it from Grizzly, only not a single page of documentations. I can tell from the picture how to put it together, but....
How the heck do I use it? :o In the table saw book I have It tells me to use the miter slot to check if the blade is parallel etc. This bugger has a magnetic base. Should I have gotten a different one or is there a trick?
Any help appreciated.

Sometimes you would use the magnetic base and sometimes you wouldn't

Example of no base:

Buy this book, it covers all the basics.

Example of with (not exactly but you get the idea or angling down to check the arbor/flange) :

OK, so where do I get that 'thingie' that slides in the slot? It didn't come with my gauge. Thanks.

I made a miter "bar" out of a piece of hardwood, screwed that to a piece of 3/8" plywood to create a sliding platform. I attached a metal plate to this. The mag-base grabs the metal plate and the whole rig slides in the miter slot. When using the gauge on other tools like a jointer, I just slide the base across the table top or flip the switch to stick it where I want it.

This is my method of tuning up a table saw. The holder for the dial indicator will cost you about fifty cents.
