Picked up the burl from a friend of a guy at work who owns a production sawmill. So burls and such are "in the way" and get cut off and lobbed in the "heat all the buildings" pile. We visited his mill and he let me go through the burn pile. Quite a nice save from the burner, I think. Hard as hell, the chips coming off the gouge actually hurt where they were hitting my hand; like being blasted with small rocks. Took a while to decide how to turn in as the thickness wasn't uniform and there was a big chainsaw cut through the center.
I made the plate stand as well. Some 1/4" plexi, some bandsawing, some filing and sanding, and some use of the heat gun, and booyah, plate stand.
Thanks for looking
