Hi All:
Apologies if this has been covered before (searched the forum with no results).

Does anyone know of a source for sculpted chair seat blanks? I am beginning a dining room project and need to make 12 chairs. I am stumped by the apparent effort to sculpt solid wood seats though.

Thanks
Prabha

All I can say is good luck! I've been looking for a source of logs here in Indiana for yrs with no luck.

All of his videos are great, by the way. He seems very down to earth, and very practical.

edit: I realize this isn't exactly a "source" for the seats but you had mentioned how daunting the task seemed. I though if maybe you saw how to do it, you may just change your mind and give one a try. I've never tried it myself but probably will next year sometime.

Compared to all the other work going into a chair, sculpting out the seat isn't really that much work. I can sculpt one in 20-30 minutes. I rough it out with an Arbortech blade (the three-tooth one) in a 4 1/2" angle grinder. I clean that up with sanding discs on the same grinder, starting with 80 grit and getting to 120. Then I finish sand with a ROS.
