Okay-

For those of you haven't seen it, there's a show on the Science Channel and sometimes on Discovery called How It's Made. Last night they showed Wooden Pens. They talked about the 'artisan' using a couple of drops of water with the CA glue in order to expand the CA glue to fill any gaps when inserting the brass tubes. Also, they said he uses hardwood floor varnish for a finish, four coats. Has anyone tried this before? If so, how durable is it?

I watched and I think that he was using polyurathane glue not CA. Interesting technique on using the pen mill with a hand held drill rather than the DP or the lathe.

Never tried the water thing with CA. I have tried Gymseal as a finishing product, it is an oil based finish for gym floors. It is pretty and seems durable but it takes forever to dry so I only used it a couple of times.
